When I went to the (FMJ) freeze tag server with Montana and Eagle, I was shown a screen asking me to download from version 1.5 to CoD4x - 1.7. Montana said he had a screen pop up that said "abort" - mine only said "yes" or "no". Did this 3 times and each time I chose "no". Well, because they were both in the game and bragging on the sound effects and special guns, I decided to choose "yes" and the download progressed on it's own. I have two different hard drives that my COD4 is installed on - one runs faster than the other (thanks to Torch) so I usually use that. When I installed the 1.7 files on it, I got a message telling me a dll.32 file was missing. I downloaded the FMJ files to the other drive and was eventually able to get into the game and all of the comments they'd made about the guns, etc. was true. And, we had a great time switching guns, etc. It looked like a really kewl server!
When I got out of the game I decided to go back to the 1T1F server but I was unable to. The drive that I got into the FMJ server wouldn't download any 1T1F maps. It wouldn't go to the redirect.
Night Raptor played with it for quite some time before finding the "uninstall CoD4x" folder on the drive missing the dll file.
That helped some - at least I was able to get into 1T1F's server but I had to rank up and then re-select all of my weapons - you know, the ones I use that have the bent barrels and shoot blanks most of the time! But at this time I don't know if I have to rank up again or what. No one has been in the 1T1F server today.
He did the same on the drive that had the redirect issue but nothing's changed. He's still working on it. But the game shows stuff from when I was at ESC - and weird weapon selection.
IF there isn't a way around the CoD4x issue, I won't be playing on their server. FYI Players beware....
